New Patient Information
Welcome to Indianapolis Family Dentistry, where we provide quality care for patients of all ages. Your journey to a beautiful smile and optimal oral health begins with your first visit to our inviting Indianapolis dental office.
New Dental Patient Information. When you arrive for your appointment, a friendly member of our front-office team will go over your paperwork and discuss the reasons for your visit. If you’re being seen for a dental emergency, we’ll work you in between scheduled patients. Otherwise, you’ll be promptly escorted to a treatment room to meet Dr. Farthing or Dr. Tepner. The dentist will review your medical history and take time to get to know you. He’ll want to learn your dental goals and concerns in order to customize a treatment plan that addresses your specific needs.
Your Cleaning and Exam
The dentist will perform a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, and bite before personally cleaning your teeth. He’ll assess the integrity of your existing dental work and check for decay. Dr. Farthing and Dr. Tepner always screen for oral cancer, a potentially deadly disease with an increased survival rate if caught in the early stages. The dentist will look for signs of gum disease and assess your bite to see how your top and bottom teeth fit together. We’ll take photos inside your mouth with an intraoral camera, then round out your exam with a complete set of digital X-rays.
Following your exam and cleaning, the dentist will review his findings and explain your treatment options. He’ll answer all of your questions, share what he would do if he were in your situation, then let you determine the best path to take.
We accept cash, checks, Visa, and MasterCard. Third party financing is available through CareCredit, often with no or low interest for qualified applicants. Please see the website for details.
Dr. Farthing and Dr. Tepner participate with select dental insurance programs, and our front-office team electronically files out-of-network claims as a courtesy to our patients. Upon request, a member of our staff will evaluate your dental insurance policy and answer questions regarding coverage. We will be happy to help you make the most of your dental benefits. However, insurance doesn’t cover every procedure. To provide clinically excellent care and maintain the highest level of professional integrity, our dentists will only recommend what they consider to be the best materials and treatments for your smile.
